Adaptive Battery Life Extender

When it comes to mobile computing, battery life is very important. Since a
major user of battery power is the disk drive, it makes sense to ensure that
the disk drive uses as little power as possible. That's why Adaptive Battery
Life Extender was invented. And that's why the latest version of this technology
from Enhanced Adaptive Battery Life Extender 3.0 -- now features the following
idle modes and adaptive standby mode:
- Performance Idle
- Active Idle (available at Travelstar
drives only)
- Low Power Idle
- Adaptive Standby

When the disk drive is idle, this unique power-management technology dynamically
selects the appropriate mode to minimize power usage and help preserve battery
life. The mode selection is based on the current disk drive access patterns,
so disk response times also can improve significantly. All current 2.5-inch
Travelstar drives and microdrives are implemented with this latest Enhanced
Adaptive Battery Life Extender.
