Outline Dimensions and Mounting Holes
- The recommended mounting screw torque is 0.6 - 1.0 Nm (6 - 10 kgcm).
- Maximum allowable penetration of the left and right side mounting screws on the drive is 4.5 mm.
- Maximum allowable penetration of the bottom mounting screws on the drive is 4.0 mm.

Mounting a Deskstar Hard Disk Drive

There are many variations of system cases. A Deskstar drive can be
mounted by any side or end, vertical or horizontal. Do not mount the
drive in a tilted position.
Steps for Mounting
- Place the drive in an empty drive bay and line up the four screw holes.
Make sure to use all four screws when mounting the drive, as a loose drive
may vibrate when in use and result in drive failure. Consult your system
manual for additional information.
- Check all internal cable connections to ensure they are securely seated.
- Replace the system cover.
- Check all external cable connections to ensure they are securely seated.
- Plug in your computer.
