The Travelstar E offers high storage capacities of up to 10 gigabytes (GB) and provides higher performance -- up to 2.0 MB/sec -- than external drives that use parallel ports.

These new IBM external drives employ a rugged design and shock damping for drive reliability and durability. Their self-contained design eliminates the need for external storage media such as cartridges and diskettes¹. These drives are plug-and-play compatible with any PC-format notebook¹ that has a PC Card (PCMCIA) slot.

In addition, the Travelstar E external hard drive comes with a pre-installed "lite" software package for data backup, data encryption with password protection, data compression, automatic and continuous file synchronization, and audio MP3-format capability to record and playback music tracks from CDs or the Internet. Compact and lightweight, these new IBM external drives are highly portable. And the Travelstar E contains field-proven, award-winning Travelstar mobile hard disk drives.
