Hitachi GST's Prachinburi, Thailand location received the prestigious National Safety Management Award from the government of Thailand in May 2005. The award is given by the Ministry of Labour in recognition of the design and implementation of outstanding safety and health management programs by a company. Many companies compete for the award by submitting formal applications and support documentation.

Criteria considered in the evaluation of a company's submission includes:

• Policy and occupational health and safety management
• Inspection and control of hazards and accident statistics and prevention
• Occupational health and medical management
• Work environment management

In addition to the critical review of a company’s application, representatives from the Ministry of Labour conduct a physical review at the site location in order to validate the comprehensive implementation of the safety management system.
