Hitachi Celebrates Availability of the Industry’s First 1TB HDD in Korea, Launches Two Promotional Campaigns
Thur 02 Aug, 2007

SEOUL, August 1, 2007 -- Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) today announced two summer campaigns to celebrate the industry's first sales of one-terabyte* (TB) hard disk drives in Korea.

Hitachi GST first debuted its 3.5-inch DeskstarTM 7K1000 at CES 2007 held in Las Vegas this January. The drives have just arrived in Korea and are now available to Korean households. Hitachi GST's 1TB drive is a pioneer in the PC and external hard disk market, ushering in the terabyte era.

In the first summer campaign, Hitachi GST's resellers will offer a limited number of gifts including umbrellas and drink coupons to those purchasing 3.5-inch Deskstar units of more than 320GB or TravelstarTM 2.5-inch drives 120GB and above. In the second campaign, a Deskstar 1TB drive and two Travelstar 80GB external drives will be given away through a lucky draw. The 3.5-inch, 7200 RPM Serial-ATA (SATA) Deskstar 7K1000 hard drive is built on the industry's most reliable perpendicular magnetic recording technology. Beyond sheer capacity, the Deskstar hard drive meets the performance requirements of consumers with fast data transfer rates, low power and advanced shock protection. This makes it ideal not only for consumer and commercial PCs, but also for media center PCs, extreme gaming machines and external storage devices. The Deskstar 7K1000 has received awards and accolades worldwide, which confirm Hitachi GST's commitment to designing products that meet the highest quality standards.

* One GB is equal to one billion bytes, and one TB equals 1,000 GB (one trillion bytes) when referring to hard drive capacity. Accessible capacity may be less.

Hitachi GST trademarks are authorized for use in countries and jurisdictions in which Hitachi GST has the right to market the brands. Hitachi GST is not liable for third parties’ unauthorized use of Hitachi GST trademarks.
