Christopher Dewees Joins Hitachi Global Storage Technologies

Former JDS Uniphase Chief Legal Officer is Named Vice President and General Counsel

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Dec. 22, 2008 – Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi GST) today announced that it has named Christopher S. Dewees vice president and general counsel. In his new role, Chris will have worldwide responsibility for all Hitachi GST legal, intellectual property, regulatory and compliance activities and associated policies. He will be based at Hitachi’s San Jose, California headquarters.

“Chris has extensive experience in corporate turnarounds and is an industry thought leader in key areas including: Sarbanes Oxley compliance, intellectual property, contract administration, global trade initiatives and corporate development activities,” said Hiroaki Nakanishi, chief executive officer, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. “His distinguished track record and global business experience will help accelerate our turnaround as we drive towards sustained profitability.”

Mr. Dewees brings 20 years of multinational legal experience in the technology industry to Hitachi GST. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Chief Legal Officer at JDS Uniphase Corporation. Previously, he practiced law at Morrison & Foerster LLP, where he represented several Silicon Valley public and private companies.

Chris is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Northwestern University Law School and is a member of the bar in California, Arizona and the District of Columbia.
